San Francisco, CA / August 1, 2004 Saga has taken its ability to produce high, quality affordable Gypsy Jazz-style
guitars to a whole new level pulling from one of the greatest resources on the Gypsy Jazz scene today the virtuoso
guitar player and composer, John Jorgenson. Known as one of the pioneers of the American gypsy jazz movement,
Jorgenson has had quite a varied career, one that is continually evolving. One of his goals being to make Gypsy Jazz
music and the instruments played, accessible to music lovers the world over.
By combining ideas from the "Modern Gypsy Swing Master " and our own knowledgeable product development
team, Saga has added the Grandest Gitane and only signature model guitar to date...the DG-300, Modele John
Jorgenson! Features include: hand-selected solid spruce used for the top and book-matched, eye-catching Brazilian
rosewood used for the back and sides, a custom designed mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard shaped to John's
specific dimensions, and tortoise style body binding, sound hole rosette and tailpiece insert. Certainly a striking
appearance at first glance, though its visual appearance is just one aspect that makes this guitar so special.
Using valuable suggestions from John based on his unique experiences in testing previous Gitane models in live
situations and in also playing a variety of music styles, it was decided to add a few other improvements to the guitar,
like a finished body interior, peg head overlays and upgraded tuners. For all you collectors, each label with be hand-
signed by John.
" The ratio of quality to value in amazing in these Gitane guitars, and helping to design my signature model has been
an exciting and fun project."
John Jorgenson
The Modele John Jorgenson made its debut appearance at the first ever Djangofest San Francisco, further fueling our
desire to make this guitar even better. After making a few more final adjustments, perfecting construction and
cosmetic refinements, the final production version was released July 23, 2004 at the Station Inn in Nashville, TN.
As a result, this guitar is currently in high demand and will be available in limited quantities.
