Introduces The DG-255
Another
Selmer-style guitar in the extremely popular line of
Gitane jazz guitars.
The DG-255 is the most affordable recreation
of one of Django’s favorite style of guitars. The
new Gitane DG-255 from is truly an industry first. Until
now, guitarists had the choice of a few indifferently
made production guitars at a reasonable price or a few,
fine custom guitars at $2000 to $5.000, but the new Gitane
line offers the features of an expensive,
hand-made guitar at a price any guitarist can afford.
The Gitane DG-255 is closely copied from a priceless,
original
Selmer guitar, and every essential feature is reproduced—along
with a few modern improvements in tone and playability.
The DG-255 has the more common slotted peghead design
familiar to jazz guitarists as well as the smaller soundhole.
Most photographs of Django show this very guitar. Since
many of the later originals had thick, uncomfortable
necks and heavy, oversized top braces, the DG-255 has
a slim, low-profile neck and the top braces just heavy
enough to allow a balance of stability and optimum tone.
